MAYURI 2013
UMD Moksha Presents Mayuri 2013! Mayuri is UMD's first ever premiere Indian Classical Dance competition, featuring dance teams from all across the country! It will be held on March 9th, 2013 at 6pm in Hoff Theater! We hope you all can join us for an evening of phenomenal performances. Tickets are being sold online at www.umdmayuri.com for $10 until March 7th, and at Hoff Theater for $15. Get your tickets soon!!
UMD Moksha Places 3rd at Dhirana 2013!
We are so honored to have been given 3rd place and the Most Traditional Award at UPitt's Dhirana 2013! We had an amazing weekend with such awesome liaisons and fantastic teams! Congratulations to RU Natya for winning 1st place--you totally deserved it! And UTexas for placing 2nd. All the teams were so great!

We are so happy to have received 2nd place at JHU Shakti's Nrityamala 2012! Thank you for a fantastic weekend! We enjoyed each and every one of the performances! A special congrats for Tufts Pulse on their first place win! You guys were phenomenal!

There are two parts to the audition (both occurring on the same day):
1. You will be taught a short jathi and will audition with it.
2. You will audition with a 1-2 minute portion of a dance piece you have already learned. The piece should allow you to exhibit both expressions and footwork.
- Please bring your own music (iPod or CD) or e-mail the edited version to umd.moksha@gmail.com.
We will be looking for neatness, balance, composure, and grace.
***Formal Indian classical dance training is SUGGESTED!
Includes: Bharatanatyam, Kuchuppudi, Kathak, Mohini Attam, Odissi etc....

Moksha's Spring 2012 Showcase
On Saturday, April 21st, “Moksha: Dance is Liberation” will present the colorful and dynamic art form of Indian classical dance. UMD’s Indian classical dance team, Moksha, will perform four pieces from its repertoire, including its award winning performance from Laasya 2012, as well as three never-before-seen pieces!
Moksha is also proud to announce a special collaboration piece with Ajay Ravichandran on the mridangam!
The show will also feature guest acts from UMD’s artistic community,Tianyi Dance Team UMD and Anokha!

We are absolutely humbled by our first place win and the title of "Misses Congeniality" at Laasya 2012!
Thank you Pitt Nrityamala for an incredible weekend! We were blown away by every team's performance, including BU Dheem Harvard Deepam, JHU Shakti, Tufts Pulse, UNC Ek Taal. Congratulations to Duke Lasya and RU Natya on their second and third place wins!
A special shoutout to the board of Laasya 2012. You did an amazing job with the competition and it was great meeting all of you!

held on December 2nd, from 4:00 to 6:30pm in CSPAC Studio 1. With

common hand gestures, and facial expressions, all combined into a full dance
